WEATHER BASE WATCH — OFFLINE LOCAL KIT

No ESP32 reflash is required. This kit runs the same Station dashboard and trend engine on a laptop or Raspberry Pi. The ESP32's own built-in dashboard remains available unchanged.

Before camping:
1. Install Python 3.10 or later on your laptop/Pi if it is not installed.
2. Unzip this entire folder. Do not open index.html directly.
3. Connect the laptop/Pi to the same Wi-Fi as the ESP32 (or its setup hotspot).
4. In this folder run:
   python start.py --station http://192.168.4.1 --lan
Windows may use: py start.py --station http://192.168.4.1 --lan
Change that IP if your ESP32 uses a different local address.
5. On the laptop open http://localhost:8765
6. On your phone, on the same network, open http://COMPUTER-IP:8765
Find the computer's Wi-Fi IPv4 address with ipconfig (Windows) or hostname -I (Pi).
Allow the local Python server through your firewall on your trusted private network.
7. Open Local settings to save the campsite's coordinates and label. Local HTTP often cannot access phone GPS; manual coordinates work offline. Online location search is available when internet returns.

Only use --lan on a trusted network. Without it, the gateway accepts connections from this computer only. Keep the terminal open while using the station.

LOCAL MODE
Temperature, humidity, sea-level pressure, dew point, local trends and history work without internet. Freshness gates still apply. No model rain/CAPE/gust values are fabricated. When internet returns, automatic forecast refresh resumes. Forecast cache expires after 90 minutes and is labelled with its age.

CALIBRATION
The ESP32 local API already applies its own temperature/pressure/altitude calibration. Local-kit offsets default to zero and are EXTRA corrections; do not copy cloud offsets blindly or you may apply them twice. Humidity offset applies only in this kit. Cloud Settings and local-kit Settings are separate. Changing local settings does not reconfigure/reflash the ESP32.

WI-FI
Local Settings links directly to ESP32 /dashboard, home setup and /wifi for Lite firmware. Enter Wi-Fi passwords only on the ESP32. The original firmware automatically opens a setup hotspot after connection failure; Lite firmware may keep a permanent hotspot. Use the hotspot name/password already installed. Android may need "Stay connected" when there is no internet.

HISTORY
station-history.sqlite3 is written beside start.py and retained for 30 days. The gateway imports the ESP32's /api/history and polls /api/current every minute. Keep the gateway running to accumulate readings; it cannot recover data the ESP32 did not retain. The Station page exports JSON. ESP32 age-based history timestamps are approximate to its five-minute sampling interval. Do not move/rename the database while the gateway runs.

STOP
Ctrl+C. Run the same command to restart; history and local settings persist.

Firmware/API compatible with the recovered ShaunWeatherStation starter:
GET /api/current; GET /api/history. No API upload credentials are included.
